Description: An elegant and well proportioned decanter by important Finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva.  Often referred to as the “Bird Vase” these came in a number of different colors, including at least two different blues.  We have not seen many in this deeper blue.  Engraved on the bottom “T. Sarpaneva – 3501”.  Another outstanding Scandinavian modern design.  An example is in the collection of the  Metropolitan Museum of Art, and his other related glassware for Iittala can be found in many important public collections including the Museum of Modern Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
