ABOUT US
Hamel20, LLC is a firm devoted to acquiring and selling modern design objects and fine art of the twentieth century. Founded in 2015 by Bill Hamel, the firm’s inventory spans the twentieth century from arts and crafts, art deco, machine age, modernism, mid-century modern, Scandinavian, Italian and Austrian design, to more recent post modern classics by Robert Venturi, Richard Meier, Michael Graves, Lino Sabattini, Lella and Massimo Vignelli, Ettore Sottsass, Shiro Kuramata and many others. Designs that were considered avant-garde in their time are our core mission.
Bill brings to this business over 60 years of living with great modern design and over 40 years of seriously collecting it. He grew up with parents who furnished their home with designs by Hans Wegner, Bruno Mathsson, Borge Mogensen, Arne Jacobsen, George Nakashima, Gino Sarfatti and others. His parents also collected and filled their home with quality 18th and 19th century American antiques and fine art. From an early age Bill was dragged to antique stores and shows, and enjoyed engaging with and learning from knowledgeable dealers. Bill has studied and handled many thousands of objects, which has focused his eye and helped develop a keen sense of good design, line, and construction, as well as value and good investment.
