Description:  This was part of Rosenthal’s Studio Line (Studio Linie) of high end housewares designed by some of the most important artists and designers of their time, including Walter Gropius.  This candlestick is rarely found and we have only seen a couple of others.  Wirkkala designed a number of objects for Rosenthal’s Studio Line, such as dining wares, tea services and whimsical items such a vase fashioned in the shape of a brown paper bag in ceramic.
