Description: Here is a terrific little stash box made of Mesquite wood in Hawaii, also referred to as a Limbox. Pelton’s earlier work from the 1970s is becoming more sought after, and a larger stash box auctioned in 2007 at Los Angeles Modern Auctions sold for $1,225. Pelton’s work was also shown in 2010 at the Reform Gallery in Los Angeles in an exhibition on American studio design. His son has a blog collinpelton.com with more information about the artist. Marked and dated as photographed.
We have seen a number of these boxes in varying sizes and quality, but this is one of the better ones we have come across. Most are a single compartment, but this one has multiple interlocking compartments and is quite complex in its design. We purchased this due to its intricate interior design of storage spaces that is stylistically similar to the bookends we have on offer.
