Description: This is an attributed early Herta Baller ashtray that has all the hallmarks of classic Bauhaus modernist design. This example bears an Auböck signature, which we are unsure about because we have only ever seen one other example this model that had what appeared to be a correct early Baller Austria impressed mark on the bottom edge and we cannot find this design in the Auböck Archives books. Nevertheless, this is an excellent design and has the weight, quality and modernist aesthetic of an early Auböck object. Baller’s earlier designs are of extremely high quality and compete in many ways with Auböck who was her contemporary.
