Description: Important set of heavy patinated copper candlesticks by architect Steven Holl for Swid Powell, of excellent construction and craftsmanship. Each candlestick was fabricated by hand by a small independent metalsmith firm in New York City and each required multiple hours of hand applied patination to achieve the rich surface color. These are getting harder to find in the complete set. When they were produced Swid Powell retailed them for about $300 per candlestick. Holl’s designs are in many major museum collections internationally, and these can be found in the permanent collection of the Yale University Art Gallery. These candlsticks are also highlighted in a full page photo in Tapert’s book.
