Description: Here are a beautiful pair of vases designed by Giuliano Malimpensa, the founder of the firm MESA. The interior of the openings have been textured and appear to be influenced by flowers or leaves.
According to the MESA website, Malimpensa began working for Lino Sabattini at age 15 where he learned from the master the techniques of hand-crafted silver and brass. Since the 1970’s he has worked with the great Italian masters of design, such as Gio Ponti and others. He started MESA in 1980 as a small firm designed as a studio to be a laboratory of applied arts. Several pieces designed by him are permanently exhibited at the museum “Die Neue Sammlung” in Monaco and in the “Kyoto extension center” in Kyoto, Japan. He also lectures at Seika University, Kyoto, on production design methods in silver. Five Mesa products are on permanent display at Die Neue Sammlung in Munich, Germany. And many others have been shortlisted in several editions of the Compasso d’oro, Italy’s leading design award. These bud vases were made in Italy at MESA’s factory in Bregnano.
