Description: Here is a pair of important Auböck II designed bookends in Mouflon (wild sheep) horn and steel. Mouflon is a subspecies of wild sheep. The Werkstätte produced these style bookends with both buffalo and sheep horn, and with enameled steel, polished brass, or nickel plated brass bases. In the Archives books these show as model 4671 and 4773. Many of the horn bookends were unmarked, as is the case with this pair, but it does retain the shadow of an adhesive sticker residue on the spot where the distributors red decal “Made in Austria” paper label was affixed to the bottom in the same location as other documented examples we have seen. These stickers were a distinctive red and white stripe with the words “Made in Austria” in black. We have seen other pairs with this label or partial label affixed.
