Description: Here is a very rare pair of Curry’s Model M-D Block bookends which are heavy aluminum cubes that are highly sought after designs. The Model M-D Blocks are the same as the Model M that were finished in solid colors, except the Model M-D Blocks were produced with contrasting colored letters and symbols that appear as children’s letter blocks. This is the only pair we have ever seen other than those that appear in the 1972 Design Line catalog. They are not in as pristine condition like the other pair of Model M Blocks we have on offer, but given their rarity, the few scratches and marks are forgivable. This pair retains their original labels on the bottoms as shown. These are very heavy for their size, each weighing in about 3 ½ pounds, so they really do hold up books.
The Model M-D Block model makes its first appearance in the Design Line catalog dated from 1972-73 with color images and details and can be found on the Internet. Although Curry died in 1971, his wife kept the firm open just a few more years when many of his most classic designs were produced.
