Condition: Very Good.  Minor but noticeable fleabite on the rim of one, and some camouflaged deep scratches to one side of the other.         

Description: An extremely rare pair of marble candlesticks by Lella and Massimo Vignelli manufactured by Casigliani in Italy. Possibly a prototype as we have been unable to locate another pair and the firm has no on-line records of this object for the Vignelli.  They bear the Casigliani round sticker to the bottom, which says “Designed by Lella and Massimo Vignelli  Casigliani”.  

Casiglianoi is best known for the famous and heavy knocked-off coffee table for Vignelli that uses four large marble shapes (globe, pyramid, cube and cylinder) for the base with a thick glass top.  We could not find any candlesticks as tableware products by the firm for the Vignelli’s.  We also have a similar single candlestick with a very different top, which may also be a prototype that never went into full production.  There were large floor model lamps that bear design similarities to these candlesticks.  We have seen only a few tabletop objects in marble designed by the Vignelli’s by Casigliani and they are very rare.
