Description: Here is an extremely rare, and perhaps one of a kind, Tommi Parzinger designed for Dorlyn Silversmiths brass jewelry box with a mica crystal covered lid. Parzinger’s jewelry boxes are very scarce and collectable to begin with, but we have never seen one with this mica lid. We have only ever seen one other Parzinger designed piece that utilized mica, and that was on the front of a credenza where mica was used as a laminate on the doors and front of the piece. The few jewelry boxes we have seen by Parzinger are all brass with an incised grid or striped pattern in the brass. This example has that same incised banding around the waist. It comes with its original box and packaging, another incredible rarity. It is unlikely another will come available, and even if one does, the likelihood of it retaining its original box and packing materials is very remote.
Condition: Very Good, New Old Stock. Although this is New Old Stock, unused and with original box and packing papers, two of the lid corners had some of the mica laminate crack and some came off and was re-glued. One corner has a chip to the mica as seen in the photos. These blemishes occurred during its many years of storage and being moved around. In our humble opinion these are forgivable due its extreme rarity.
