Description: A very fine and well executed small patinated brass work by Richard Rohac. Rohac’s work holds up in both design and craftsmanship with his peers in Vienna. Marked with the reverse Rs and “Made in Austria” as shown in the photograph. We have handled and seen a number of different Rohac ashtrays, trays, candlesticks, figurines, but never a match, toothpick or cigarette holder. This can also be used to hold toothpicks. An elegant design that would enhance any modern home.
Rohac was a master metal craftsman who began and completed his apprenticeship with the Werkstatte Hagenauer in Vienna, Austria as a teenager and stayed with the workshop another nine years before opening his own metalwork business in 1932.
