Richard Rohac Candelabra
Richard Rohac Candelabra
Designer: Richard Rohac (1906 – 1956)
Item: Pair of candelabras
Manufactured by: Richard Rohac
Country of origin: Austria
Year made: Ca. 1950
Materials: Patinated and polished brass
Dimensions: 9 3/8" x 6 3/4" x 3 3/8"
Condition: Very good used condition. Small amount of wax residue remains. The polished edges have oxidized, but can be polished to a bright finish if desired. We chose to leave these as we found them. These are not bent or crooked. The surface they were photographed on had a small ridge on the base that makes them appear uneven.
Description: An elegant pair of Rohac candleabras with patina and exposed brass marked with the Rohac cypher reverse Rs and “Made in Austria.” One retains remnant of original paper label.
Rohac was a master metal craftsman who began and completed his apprenticeship with the Werkstatte Hagenauer in Vienna, Austria as a teenager and stayed with the workshop another nine years before opening his own metalwork business in 1932. His works are very high quality design and construction.
We have seen a few of these design over the past couple of years and they can sometimes be found on eBay for between $450 and $500 for a single and we found a single on 1stdibs for $1,800. Although these are more commonly found than the other pair of Rohac candlesticks we currently have on offer, these are much larger and are suitable for use on a larger dining table.
