Description: This is one of the rarer objects produced for and sold by Swid Powell. It is also one of the rarest designs by Richard Meier for Swid Powell. We believe it was only produced for a short period of time and in very very small numbers. We have confirmed that this was not a prototype and was put into full production for retail sale. However, due to the difficulty in manufacturing this design, not many were made. We have only seen one other example ever appear and that example in similar condition sold several years ago for a significant sum.
Condition: Very good, with a few spots of dulling of the silverplate on the base from over polishing as shown. There are also some spots of very stubborn tarnish that may require a professional to remove without damaging the silver-plate. This frame retains its original glass, but it has corner chips. We have obtained a replacement glass which will also be included. These are forgivable issues due to this object’s extreme rarity.
