Description: Another great early modern design by Karl or Franz Hagenauer. We have seen a few different versions of Hagenauer fish ashtrays each being an abstracted, but identifiable form. Illustrated in the 2011 exhibition catalog Hagenauer: Wiener Moderne Und Neue Sachlichkeit and very similar to a version illustrated in Alfred W. Edward’s book Art Deco Sculpture & Metalware. Marked on the bottom “Handmade”, “wHw” mark, “Made in Vienna Austria” and “Hagenauer Wien”. We have only seen one other come to market.
