Item: Modernist Ashtray with Tamper

Description: Here is a rarely found Hagenauer design for an ashtray that also has a tamper or snuffer to extinguish the cigarette or cigar.  We have seen other modern and abstracted shapes for ashtrays by Hagenauer, but never this shape and rarely this thick and heavy.  A fantastic modern design for this firm.  It is heavy brass and beautifully constructed. This has the “wHw”, “Made in Vienna Austria” and “Hagenauer Wien” markings as shown.  The overall quality of design and manufacture rivals work by Carl Aubock. We have never seen another like it, and we believe it may be unique.
