Description: Here is a smaller sized Shoemaker lidded box with a diamond pattern parquet inlaid lid made of Cocobolo and Rosewood. The lid for this box is hinged with beautiful handmade wood hinges as shown. The quality of construction on these Shoemaker boxes is excellent. Retains its original Shoemaker label and partial original retail price tag from Jacobson’s Department Store, as shown. Jacobson’s was a Midwest and Southern chain that started in 1838 and closed in 2011. This chain of department stores handled a full range of products, to include clothing, jewelry, furniture and some finer household goods. Clearly Shoemaker’s work met their high standards. Shoemaker’s work is becoming highly sought after for its excellent design and quality of craftsmanship. We are very fond of his tabletop objects such as his boxes, trays and candlesticks.
