Description:  A rare and important pair of English Oak bookends by the Cotswold School designer John Briggs.  Triangular form fitted with handles.  Ex-collection of John Levitties, and exhibited at his gallery John Alexander, Ltd., Philadelphia, PA in the show, Modern Pastoral: Cotswold School Design 1890-2006.  Briggs was a student in the workshop of important designer Edward Barnsley (1900-1987).
