Description: Here is another famous Carl Auböck III design for a paperweight in the form of an oversized double edged razor blade. This was marketed in the Auböck sales catalogs as the For a Real Cutup and the For Sharpies paperweight, which came in boxes with those names appearing on the top. These were made in both polished brass and in chrome over brass finishes and are still being produced today. A very well documented design in the Archives. Signed as shown with the impressed Auböck mark.
This example is a more modern production that we are dating to the early 1990s since this was purchased at that time at Barneys in New York City along with the other version we have on offer in the polished nickel over brass finish. Although from the early 1990s, it is now about 30 years old and is officially “vintage.” We will entertain reasonable offers on the pair if you are interested in both.
