Description: This rare flatware set was designed by Carl Auböck for Collini and manufactured in 1979. The regular production was made in blackened stainless steel (see the large serving utensil we have for sale) or a stainless steel finish. These are in a silverplate over steel finish. Marked on the back “Collini-Austria Design Carl Auböck” and bearing Carl Auböck’s signature raised in the metal, as well as the number 90 in an oval, which signifies silverplate and then each utensil bears a different number, which we have not been able figure out. This design is scarcely seen to begin with, but we have never seen any another example in silverplate and only one other in gold plate. An example of this design in black steel is in the collection of the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh.
