Description: Here is a likely unique solid cast aluminum sculptural plaque by the fine artist and designer Augusto Vanarelli. Vanarelli was an Italian painter and sculptor who also was a designer best known for his furniture designs and interiors that often incorporated abstract modernist cast aluminum elements such as friezes and plaques. Although formally trained as a painter and sculptor he began to devote himself to architecture and design in the mid 1950s. He had many important commissions in Italy for interiors and furniture. His work is very hard to find and when the occasional piece of his furniture appears on the market it commands five-figure prices. We have only seen a few other of these small art plaques which appear to be unique castings. This work is signed and dated lower right.
