Description: Here is an uncommonly found Fondue Set in its original and mint condition box by Carl Auböck III that was an updated and more contemporary design of the original design in copper and brass that was produced by hand in the Werkstätte. The handles of the pot and warmer are marked as shown. The fondue pot handle is marked with the correct impressed “Made in Austria” and “Amboss” marks. The original hang tag indicates a 1962 production. There is also a Crate and Barrel price sticker on the box. 1962 was the year that Crate and Barrel was started and in its early years they retailed some higher-end products including housewares by Auböck. This set was also exhibited in 1969 at the Global Eye ‘69 design show in Tokyo and a photo of the show with this set with its box appears on page 169 of the Auböck 1924 - 1993 Architect: Design for Modern Living, book. This is a scarcely found opportunity to acquire such a mint object with its original box and hang tag. We are including a set of four original Auböck fondue forks in excellent condition in the original box, but worn. We also have additional fondue forks without the box available if you would like some extras at a very nominal price. This piece is worthy of an institutional collection.
