Description: Here is a harder to find larger sized Alfaraz horse with no condition issues. Many of the animals, especially the larger sized ones, have chips, broken limbs and other noticeable and detracting defects. This example is flawless with a lovely mottled glaze.
Miguel Durán-Loriga was a trained architect and designer who opened Alfaraz Pottery in 1952. The firm is well known for its animal sculptures, lamps and tile works. Most of the animals and figures are of a much smaller size. If you shop around you will find may smaller ones, but examples of this larger size are very hard to find. This horse is signed with the impressed mark in the clay, as shown. A terrific modernist design that would enhance any modern home.
